Planning a family stay or a stay for four adults

The Hanare is a separate building from the main house. Its living space, bath and toilet are not shared with the host. Male-only parties are not accepted.

There are two beds in the bedroom, two futons in the living room, and one child-sized futon. Amenities are provided for up to four people. Please discuss the number of children and sleeping arrangements before booking.

The room rate is the same for up to four adults, but only two breakfast portions are included. See the rates section for additional breakfast charges. The women-only room in the main house has different shared facilities and is charged per person.

Layout and facilities

The Hanare has a living-dining room (16 tatami mats), bedroom (6 mats), massage-chair room (3.8 mats), bath, toilet, veranda and garden. The host lives on the second floor of the main house on the same grounds.

Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, gauze samue loungewear, a massage chair and traditional board games are available.

Rates, capacity and breakfast

¥50,000 per whole house, per night (tax included). The room rate is the same for up to 4 adults, and any number of children may stay. Larger families, please ask.

Breakfast for two is included. From the third adult, breakfast is ¥1,000 per person. For children up to junior-high age, the first child is free and each additional child is ¥500.

Consecutive nights are ¥5,000 off per night from the second night, per party (one booking), not per person.

For guests living in Japan who can make a domestic bank transfer: Book directly through this website and save ¥3,000 per booking (can be combined with the consecutive-night discount). Payment by bank transfer.

Plan your ferry arrival and check-in

The inn is in Nouma, in southeastern Shodoshima’s Hishio-no-Sato area, about eight minutes by car from Sakate Port. There are two parking spaces.

Check-in is arranged around your ferry arrival. Check-out is at 11:00 the next day. Please tell us your arrival port and ferry plans.

Transfers are not available every day: confirm availability when booking. Check current sailing times with the ferry operator. Dinner at the inn requires advance reservation; please ask when planning your stay.

Meals and transfers

Dinner is by reservation. Choose the same menu for everyone in your party: Japanese-Western course, olive beef sukiyaki or olive beef barbecue (¥5,000 per person each), or the pork fillet cutlet set (¥3,000 per person).

On your arrival day, we can collect you from the port or the bus stop nearest the last sightseeing spot you visit that day and bring you to the guesthouse.

On your departure day, we can take you from the guesthouse to the port or the bus stop nearest the first sightseeing spot you plan to visit.

Transfers for sightseeing spots are limited to Shodoshima Town. Pick-up and drop-off are at the nearest bus stop. For Kankakei Gorge, we pick up and drop off at Koun Station, the lower station of the Kankakei Gorge ropeway.

Transfers are not available every day. Please confirm availability when booking.

There is parking for 2 cars.

Booking and cancellation

Direct bookings are confirmed in this order: enquiry, availability reply, then bank transfer to Japan Post Bank by 3 days before your stay. Transfer fees are paid by the guest.

Cancellation is free up to 3 days before your stay, 50% from 2 days before to the day before, and 100% on the day. When we hand over the key, the lead guest is asked to show photo ID.
